Worlds Loss, Heavens Gain

Last night I got a call from my cousin Trisha informing me that my wonderful and Super Women Grandma had a heart attack and didn't make it. They couldn't get in touch with my Dad to let him know and I was the only one in my family that anyone had a phone number for. My parents were attending their Ward Temple night and I knew that knowing my parents they didn't have their cells with them and wouldn't know until they got home. So me and my amazingly supportive husband went to the Temple and waited in the foyer until they came out. As soon as they found out we all went up to the hospital where quiet a few other family members.

Let me tell you just a small fraction of how amazing this women was. She gave birth to 9 children and look at how tiny she is!!! She has 45ish grand kids, around 10 or so step-grand kids, and somewhere around 15-20 great grand kids. (I lost track a long time ago) She was very family oriented and would do and did do anything she could to be there for all family members. Her and my Grandpa had served in not just 1 mission but 7, yep you heard me, 7 missions, all over the world. She was an amazing seamstress and made many of her own clothing including the ones she is wearing in both pictures. Every year for Christmas she would make something for her grandchildren, more recent years it has been PJ bottoms for the younger grandchildren and great grandchildren. For us older grandchildren she would give us little things from purses to necklaces that she had collected over their many missions. One year when I was a lot younger I remember her making outfits for a lot of the granddaughters barbies. She made quilts for every grandchild to have when they got married, some are still not married, but from what I have heard theirs are stored away waiting for them. Plus she has donated tons of blankets to the nursery at the hospital. She was an amazing crocheter and knitter also. And boy could she cook. The neighborhood kids would stop by her house every day to get a cookie for their short walk home from the bus stop.
She really was very healthy. My mom told me that in the 35 years she has been a member of that family she has never heard of Grandma having anything more than occasional head aches, no surgeries, no daily meds, no low this or high that. She went walking every day for about an hours with her second youngest daughter that lived next door. This truly is a shock.
Just a few weeks ago she told me that she made one of her many Asian style shirts and it ended up just a little to tight for her and she wanted me to stop by and get it. I never did, thinking that I had all the time in the world to go get it. Who knows if I will end up with it now.
I know that Heavenly Father needs her now to help in Heaven, but she will be missed here on Earth. I have had a amazing example with both of my Grandmothers and have big shoes to fill. I love you Grandma's and can't wait to see you again.

Oh Heidi! I'm so sorry for your loss. I just lost my Great-Grandmother on Friday, so we're in the same boat.

Funny how the universe keeps handing you and I that same thing "We're in the same boat" huh?

Anyways, I'd love to catch up with you. Let me know what your schedule is and we should get together for a little reunion.
